So happy to have received help today, October 7, from members of the University of Toledo’s Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math-Science programs. Upward Bound has been around since the 1960s and is funded by the Department of Education, said Alisha Durham, associate director of both of the UT programs.
“We like to give area high school students various opportunities to give back to their community and to help them build their resumes for college applications and future career opportunities,” said Ms. Durham.
The Kitchen’s executive director, Harvey Savage, was happy to welcome the students. “We really appreciate their help and also see the value in having them understand that hunger continues to be a problem. We hope they gained valuable insight from their experience with us today.”
